A former inn sitting in the midst of a bucolic idyll, this dales retreat shouts Yorkshire at every opportunity, as the name would suggest. Bedrooms come in a variety of sizes from cosy doubles to more spacious suites but all are luxurious. Expect deeply comfortable beds with monogrammed sheets, rich fabrics and superbly kitted out with all the mod cons. The restaurant is of course the centrepiece; a long established food destination under the keen eye of local food hero, Frances Atkins offering bold, creative cooking in the main restaurant or a more informal but no less enjoyable experience in the 'Little Dining Room'.
